This past Saturday I participated in the first annual Dixieland Spring Art Fest in Lakeland. Whenever you participate in a show for the first time, you always fear the unknown. What is the set-up going to be like? What type of artists will be there? Will I be the only newbie?
Saturday morning started out great with an easy check-in and set-up. The art fest was not overwhelming for a newbie like me. I will admit that I had some serious butterflies. I have been a "crafter" for years and have participated in many craft fairs over the years. I had been an artist too, but never told anyone. In the past five years I have started to fuse my art with my crafting. This was my first show where I had my art on exhibit. It was a little like running through the neighborhood naked. It is alot easier to have customers not buy your crafts than artwork that has come from somewhere inside of you. But I jumped in and made it through unscathed. Actually better than that. I am ready for my next show.
