Dig down deep and find your creativity bone
I think because I am a creative person, other people feel they should tell me how uncreative they think they are. I'm not sure why, but I always want to tell them they can be creative. It just takes practice. I think creativity is like a muscle. Some people are naturally "muscular" and other people have to work a little harder.
One of the first things you can do to explore your creativity is find out what colors appeal to you. You may have a favorite color or maybe a color you wear all of the time. Look outside of those colors though. Obviously, color is everywhere, but there are a few places you can go to explore in a condensed environment.
The first is the paint aisle at your local home improvement center. Next time you are there, pick up 5-10 colors that appeal to you. Pick from all ends of the color spectrum. Once you get home, play around with the paint chips and see what color combinations appeal to you.
Another great place is the fabric store. Here you will find color combinations already put together for you. Look for fabrics that have big patterns and 2-4 colors. If you find a color combination you love, buy a small yardage or snap a photo.
Just like the fabric store, a scrapbooking store is a good place to explore color combinations. Look for those patterns and colors that appeal to you. Buy a sheet or two.
Once back home grab a blank notebook and start your own color journal. You can add the paint chips, fabric and paper you collected. You may already start seeing a trend in your color selections. Keep adding to your journal as you find things that appeal to your color eye.
I'll check back with you later to see how it's going.
