Just keep learning....

As a self-trained artist I feel that I need to keep expanding my art knowledge constantly.  I love youtube and taking online mixed media courses, but I wanted to stretch that a little farther this year. 

I recently attended a gallery talk at my local museum about Renoir’s printmaking.  He is not well-known for his prints, so I was excited to learn what techniques he used.  The talk was very entertaining with a few scandalous tidbits about Renoir.  Later on it got me thinking about the other artists who must have used printmaking too.  Before modern technology it would have been the best way to produce a number of pieces to sell in a relatively short time period.

That curiosity led me to this book….

I am slowly working my way through the book, but I am already amazed at the many ways of making a print.  Now when I gelli print I feel like I am a part of this long standing art tradition.
