Searching for inspiration.....
I go through these periods of time where I feel like I can't come up with an original creative thought. Just struggling to pull something out of my brain and all I get is fluff. Usually this happens when I have a "special project" around the house. My organized, planning brain takes over and leaves no energy or time. I'll trudge along for weeks or months and then suddenly.....POP!! There's an idea. When I have stopped trying to find something, usually when I am doing something completely non-creative (folding laundry, cleaning toilets, in tree pose). I also find that once the first idea comes, there are more waiting behind it. Almost like the first idea was blocking the way.
Fortunately I just had that POP. I've been so busy with my to-do lists and haven't taken the time to play with my creativity. It took finding a fellow artist, Alisa Burke (http://www.alisaburke.blogspot.com) , who offered online art classes. I signed up for her sketchbook class and started working through the class. Just allowing myself that little bit of time each week opened a crack for my creativity to break back through. That little crack has allowed me to find that spark again. My ideas have been coming at a trickle, but they are coming again.
